The following is a
listing of selected adventures and excursions close to Canyon Ferry
Crossing.
Fly Fishing — The Missouri River is considered
Montana’s finest fly fishing river. There are a number of guided
trips, many including lodging and breakfast.
River Rafting — Rafting excursions are available on
the Missouri as well as other area rivers. Most guides are experienced
naturalists and wildlife photographers. Historians, authors and
interpreters of the area’s history and geology lead specially
designated trips.
Rockhounding — Canyon Ferry Lake and the surrounding
Montana land are an avid rockhounder’s paradise. Some sapphire mines
allow digging for a fee, even providing rental equipment.
Historical Tours — For those interested in history,
there are boat tours up the Missouri River to “The Gates of the
Mountains” scenic canyon, discovered by Lewis and Clark, as well as
walking tours of historic Helena.
Backcountry Excursions — There are backpacking,
hiking, cycling and fishing tours as well as wildlife and photographic
excursions. Residents and visitors utilize the public lands in the
Helena area for seasonal hunting and camping.
